My Compaq Presario XP lately was infected with an especially malicious virus. This is the second time that this PC has been inflamed. The first time I used the device, I restored the disks and the PC to its original day-one configuration. What an ache that becomes.
When I hooked the restored PC up to the Internet, it started to take the pleasant part of weekly downloading and configuring updates. After the second contamination, I could not discover the system repair disks, which was nearly a relief. I disconnected the PC and even thought about throwing it away.
I had heard about the free, open-source Linux running machine, Ubuntu, and so the usage of another computer. I Googled Ubuntu and went to their website.
I examined the download and installation commands on the page. It all regarded pretty honestly, so I went ahead and downloaded the state-of-the-art model, Ubuntu Nine. Ten then transferred the downloaded application to a CD-R as in step with the instructions.
My infected Compaq Presario would boot up to the laptop. However, none of the icons might load. I could get entry to some of the packages using the control alt delete command. However, it gave stripped-down versions of the programs with restricted capability.

Ubuntu is one-of-a-kind than Windows; however, it has a few of the same functions and is pretty intuitive.
Ubuntu comes with a whole package of notable preinstalled applications. The Open Office suite, which competitors Microsoft Workplace. A net browser: Mozilla Firefox, which has most of the same controls as Explorer but in distinctive locations. It has a preinstalled video games package with several popular card games: Blackjack, Solitaire, etc. Ubuntu has a personal media participant for MP3s and movies, which fits thoroughly.
Ubuntu has a built-in software link to access about 2700 unfastened Ubuntu packages.
My first effect of Ubuntu is that I like it a lot. It appears very strong, very person-pleasant, and clean to use.
The installation process for software programs and packages is barely different from Windows, but it is not difficult. I downloaded and, without problems, set up Skype for Linux and made a few International phone calls. It labored simply as exceptional.
Ubuntu has several advantages over Windows. One of the important blessings of Ubuntu is that it is almost immune from viruses. Ubuntu is free of rate. My PC now appears to run four instances quicker with Ubuntu than it did with Microsoft XP; however, admittedly, when I mounted Ubuntu, it bumped off numerous pieces of junk: antique unused software, probably some orphaned files, and numerous antique e-mails.
The most famous Windows program appears to have an Ubuntu/Linux model or counterpart. Windows programs will no longer run on Ubuntu unless you put in an application known as Wine to run them. I haven’t needed to do that as of yet.
I even have another Desktop PC running Vista. I bought a transfer allowing me to use two computer systems with just one mouse, keyboard, and reveal. This has worked out very well for me because now I don’t have Ubuntu in place but as well as Microsoft Windows.
